Beauty with an Umbrella, 1939 - Beautiful image of a young woman walking beneath an umbrella, looking down with a pensive expression. She wears an aqua blue kimono with a bold pattern of black and tan strokes, a red and white tie-dyed sash around her waist. A pink tie-dyed ribbon, a comb with butterflies, and a couple of hairpins adorn her soft hairstyle. A maple tree fills the background against a light gray sky. A lovely design, beautifully composed and detailed with silver mica on the comb and hair ornaments. This is a rare shin-hanga design from a limited edition of about 300, with number on reverse. A great subject for a collector interested in classic shin-hanga beauty portraits.
