The Battle between the Minamoto and the Taira at Ichi-no-tani in Settsu Province, 1845 - Fantastic depiction of the Battle of Ichi-no-Tani in 1184 along the seashore, with the Taira fleet out at sea. Minamoto no Yoshitsune's forces attack the Taira on the coast, with samurai fighting hand-to-hand and warrior at right charging ahead on horseback. In the center, a samurai rides a white horse into the bay towards the ships festooned with the butterfly mon or crest of the Taira Clan, their tasseled standards fluttering in the breeze. A dramatic scene full of energy and action, with wonderful detail in the armor and weapons.
