Tying a Poem Slip to a Cherry Tree

Comments - Charming scene of upper-class ladies enjoying a picnic under a blossoming cherry tree. Elegant lacquer bento boxes hold snacks, and graduated sake cups are stacked on a tray. A beauty holds up a young girl who ties a poem slip to a branch of the flowering tree, a few pink petals drifting down through the sky. Nicely detailed with burnishing in the hair and embossing in the white kimono trim.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A couple holes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, small stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
