Comments - Terrific image of samurai ready for battle along the edge of a swiftly flowing river. At bottom center, a messenger kneels on the rocky shore with his helmet on the ground beside him. At left, a daimyo sitting on a stool glares back at him angrily, gripping a tasseled command baton in his hand. Troops are massed behind the defenses along the shore, some on horseback with standards flying above the bundles of bamboo and wooden shields forming a barrier against enemies approaching from the water. An intriguing scene.
