Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of the actor Matsumoto Koshiro offstage. He stands next to a beauty in the snow along the shore of a river, a willow tree framing the scene. He looks over his shoulder with a haughty frown as the beauty gestures in the opposite direction. Beautifully detailed with a delicate embossed diamond pattern in the actor's kimono. A rare design to find in reprint.
