Shoveling Snow

Comments - Terrific scene of a winter day with men shoveling snow. In the center, a woman bends over to use a board as a shovel, while a small boy above uses a straw sandal to shape an enormous snowball. Three jars are buried in the snow next to him, perhaps refreshments for the workers, as the fellow at bottom left has worked up a sweat, baring his chest to the cold air. A great design by this student of Hokusai, with wonderfully expressive figures. Seldom seen in reprint.
