Courtesans of the Chojiya

Comments - Lovely woodblock of four elegant courtesans of the Chojiya enjoying a stroll. The beauty at the front wears a kimono patterned with battledores, shuttlecocks and balls, and an obi with a fierce dragon among swirling clouds. From left, the courtesans are Oribae, Misayama, Senzan, and Itsuhata. Beautifully drawn with graceful, delicate lines and soft color emulating the original. An attractive Edo era beauty subject.

Artist - Eishi (1756 - 1829)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 9 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at left side from previous mounting. Toning, slight creasing, a few small spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
