Major Sakakibara Fights Fiercely to the South of Ximucheng, 1895

Comments - Dramatic scene from the Sino-Japanese War of Major Sakakibara fighting fiercely against the Chinese south of Ximucheng. In the center, he leaps from his horse as he splits open the head of an enemy with his sword, while another attacker falls backwards as his horse rears. At right, other Imperial Army officers take aim at a stream of troops charging up the embankment as they ford a river. A lively image, detailed with burnishing in the black boots and uniform trim.

Artist - Ginko (active 1874 - 1897)

Image Size - 14" x 27 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight soiling, a few small spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
