Confrontation between Samurai, 1889

Comments - Handsome kabuki triptych depicting a confrontation between two samurai. The young warrior at right raises a sword high above his head as the older man in the center thrusts a fan at him accusingly. Another samurai watches solemnly at left, a tea bowl in his hand, standing behind a screen with a fantastic pattern of a dragon emerging from swirling clouds and red flames. Great expressive figures in a nicely detailed setting with lively color.

Artist - Kunisada III (1848 - 1920)

Image Size - 14" x 28/" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels. Paper remnants on sides from previous mounting. Loss and thinning at edges, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
