Edo era Original Japanese Woodblock Print Set
Fighting a Bear Kabuki Paper Model Set, 1898

Comments - Terrific, three-panel paper model set depicting a kabuki scene of a samurai fighting off a bear and foreign enemies. The warrior strikes a pose gripping his bow above his head, ready to use it as a club. Several bearded men in tunics are gathered around him, threatening him with spears and swords. The set includes two panels of snowy landscape for the setting. A great design, rare and uncut.

Artist - Edo era artist (unsigned)

Image Size - Each panel approximately 13 5/8" x 8 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Separate panels. This item with bright and clean colors. One small hole in top corner from previous string binding, as is usual for paper model prints. Please see photos for details.
