Series; One Hundred Ghost Stories of China and Japan, 1865

Lord Teishin with a Demon behind a Screen - Terrific image of Lord Teishin walking through a palace as a demon peers at him from behind a screen of reed blinds. The nobleman continues on his way, appearing not to notice the red horned creature crouching behind the blind and leering at him. Teishin wears a black robe with a beautifully detailed burnished scroll pattern over full blue hakama pants, a diamond print sash trailing on the floor behind him. He wears a tall court cap and carries a wooden staff denoting his status. A handsome design with wonderful color and detail, also in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 9" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at corners and center sides from previous mounting. One wormhole and a few small holes, repaired. A few creases at edges, very slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall
