Series; A Refreshing Collection of Haiku by Beauties

Poem by Koroku-jo, 1863 - Charming portrait of a beauty standing at the foot of a bridge, smiling as she takes a hairpin from her hair. She wears a checked kimono over a red under robe, tied with a blue obi, her hair pulled back into a smooth loop adorned with a few simple hairpins. A fish vendor's basket can just be seen at lower right, with straw matting covering the fish. An attractive design from a rarely seen series pairing beauties with haiku poems.
