The 47 Ronin, Act 6: The Suicide of Kampei and the Departure of Okaru, 1866

Series; The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers

The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers - Great design from Kunichika's triptych series depicting the classic kabuki drama about the 47 ronin, "The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers" (Kanadehon Chushingura) at the Ichimura Theater in 1866. Each print features expressive figures in beautifully detailed settings, framed by the ronin's trademark dogtooth border, the actors identified with red name cartouches. The multiple panel format allows for much more detail than the single panel 47 ronin series typically seen. The first time we've offered many of these designs.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 1/4" x 27 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Good color and detail. Stitching holes at one side of each panel, a few holes, repaired. A couple wrinkles at edges.
