Series; Biography of Yoshitsune

The Secrets of Strategy, 1847 - 1848 - Fantastic scene of the young Minamoto no Yoshitsune, known as Ushiwakamaru in his youth, and the warrior monk Benkei fighting with swords. The young samurai leaps agilely on one foot as he wields his sword, his other hand thrown up in the air. Benkei falls on one knee, gripping his weapon with both hands, grimacing angrily, his eyes bulging. Over his armor he wears a red monk's robe and headdress. The battle takes place at the corner of a building with a stone foundation, a blossoming cherry tree framing the scene at upper right. A lively design from this rarely seen series about the life of Yoshitsune.
