Procession of Beauties at Nihonbashi, 1853

Comments - Handsome scene of beauties enacting a daimyo's procession crossing over the Nihonbashi or Nihon Bridge in Edo. At right, a beauty in an elegant enclosed palanquin peers out the side, hiding a smile behind her sleeve as she chats with a matron who leans forward. An attendant holds an umbrella over the palanquin. At left, two women carry trunks over their shoulders, followed by standard bearers. The castle can be seen in the distance pasta low-lying haze, with Mt. Fuji rising above the horizon. A charming design, nicely composed and beautifully detailed.

Artist - Kunisato (died 1858)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 28 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Nice detail. Small repair, fold at corner.
