Kato Kiyomasa and Samurai

Comments - Great kabuki scene of the warrior Kato Kiyomasa with a group of his men. At right, Kiyomasa grips a spear in one hand, frowning angrily at the samurai in the center, his other hand clenched in a fist. The fellow at bottom center glares back at him, tossing his hat up in the air as if disgusted. At left, a samurai on a black horse watches with a sober expression, his helmet and blue vest bearing the paulownia crest of the Minamoto clan. Behind him, a stone marker stands beneath a pine tree. A handsome design with large colorful figures set off against at dramatic red sky.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 27 3/8"

Condition - Nice color and detail. Backed with paper. Horizontal fold near center of left panel, diagonal fold near center of center panel. Slight curling.
