Set of Four Senjafuda (Votive Prayer Slips) - Charming set of four woodblock senjafuda, literally "thousand shrine tags." Also known as nosatsu, senjafuda are small votive prayer slips designed to be pasted up at temples and shrines by visitors. Senjafuda became popular with travelers on pilgrimages during the Edo era, and are still used today. They also are prized as collectibles, with enthusiastic groups meeting to commission and trade designs. This group includes two images of lanterns with poem slips attached, a jar with an octopus on the side of it, and a hanging figurine of a turtle. An interesting group.
