A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Prince Genji Dressed in the Purple of Edo: The Tama River, 1866 - Terrific Yoshitoshi triptych of Prince Genji and two beauties enjoying a boat ride along the Tama River. The young nobleman smiles happily as he watches one of the women poling the craft along. He wears an elegant black coat with a floral design over a white kimono patterned with snowflakes. Fishermen are gathered on the shore ahead, carrying poles and baskets, while others work in the shallow water. A bridge crosses the water in the distance with low gray mountains running the width of the scene. Nicely detailed with an embossed pattern on the white areas of Genji's kimono and the white collar of the beauty at right. Only the second time we've seen this early and rare Genji triptych by Yoshitoshi.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 26 3/4"
