Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Imado in Asakusa

Series; Famous Views of the Eastern Capital

Imado in Asakusa - Terrific scene of men working at the ceramic tile kilns at Imado along the Sumida River. The workers shovel coal into the great kilns as gray smoke billows skywards, drifting with the breeze. A slender tree frames a view of the river at right with a few tiny boats visible on the calm water. Just the peak of a distant mountain appears in blue above the horizon, the base shrouded in mist under the cloud-dotted sky. A rare Kuniyoshi landscape series and a design we've never seen in reprint before.
