Beauty Holding a Sandal, 1866

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of a beauty holding a sandal in her outstretched hand as she looks to the side with a wary smile. Her outer robe is shaded from violet to pale pink and bordered with wisteria vines, worn over a light blue kimono and red under robe, one bar foot just visible at the hem. A large black lacquer chest or trunk fills an alcove behind her, the decorative pattern of yellow clouds repeated on the green and white fabric above. An attractive design.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 9 1/8"

Condition - Good color and detail.
