Bando Hikosaburo V as Manoya Tokubei, 1865

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo V as Manoya Tokubei in a play at the Ichimura Theater. He holds up a pocket mirror with one hand as he stares over his shoulder with a frown, his brows furrowed. He wears a boldly patterned blue and white kimono that hangs open at the chest, his thinning hair pulled into a slender topknot. Nicely detailed with fine linework in the hair and soft shading on the night sky.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - Nice detail. Loss at corner, a couple thin spots, repaired. Creasing throughout.
