Mist: Ichikawa Sadanji as Hoshikage Tsuchiemon, 1876 - Great kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Sadanji as Hoshikage Tsuchiemon, grimacing angrily as he holds his sword upright over his shoulder, the blade streaked with blood. He wears a dark purple kimono with an interesting pattern of connecting yellow dots similar to constellations and swirling clouds outlined in yellow with embossed lines on the white centers. The purple area of the kimono features a subtle burnished pattern. A blossoming cherry tree frames the night sky, and a few petals drift down over the scene. A rarely seen Yoshitoshi subject.

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 3/8"
