Great Assembly at Kamakura, 1858

Comments - Terrific print depicting a gathering of noblemen for an audience at a daimyo's palace in Kamakura. Wearing voluminous formal court robes and tall black caps, the noblemen are seated around the room, waiting patiently. The daimyo sits on a platform at right, with young attendants gathered around him. Each samurai is carefully identified with a name cartouche. Wonderful detail in the elegant interior setting, with beautiful sliding screens depicting cranes and pine trees, and cherry blossoms and flowing streams.

Condition - Nice color and good detail. Two panels backed with paper. A few thinning spots, repaired.
