Hato Pass at Wada Station: Bando Shuka I as Maizuru, 1852 - Attractive kabuki portrait of Bando Shuka I as the beauty Maizuru, wearing men's court attire. She grins happily as she looks over her shoulder, dressed in a black kamishimo with a circular motif of a crane with outstretched wings on her shoulders and sleeve, worn over a red print kimono. She wears a tall black cap, her hair adorned with two clusters of delicate blue flowers and many ribbons, a fan in her hand. The view of Wada shows a high mountain at left towering above the landscape as the sun sets, spreading a red glow along the horizon. Nicely detailed with burnishing on the black robe and cap.
