Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Ichimura Kakitsu IV, 1867

Series; Six Floral Selections in Modern Style

Ichimura Kakitsu IV, 1867 - Terrific head and shoulders portrait of Ichimura Kakitsu IV, taking a toothpick from his mouth as he looks ahead with a somewhat evil grin. One sleeve of his boldly patterned blue and white summer kimono has been pushed down to the waist to reveal a fantastic upper body tattoo of a snarling tiger in a bamboo grove. Oversized blossoms against the softly shaded night sky create a dramatic backdrop for the figure. A great subject for a collector interested in tattoo prints.

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Nice detail. A couple repairs, light diagonal fold near bottom center, folds at corners.
