Visiting Shrines at New Year's, 1866

Series; Parody of Genji in the Twelve Months

Visiting Shrines at New Year's, 1866 - Attractive scene of Prince Genji and his companions in a pleasure boat, ready to visit shrines for the New Year. At right, a beauty walks down the stone steps to join them, carefully lifting her robe, waves splashing at the foot of the stairs. Resting atop the roof of the cabin, a large branch is decorated for the holiday with auspicious symbols, including Daikoku's magic mallet, a mask of Okame, the goddess of mirth, and a target with an arrow through it. A charming design with wonderful detail and an attractive setting.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 14" x 29 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Some faint soiling in the margins. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
