Comments - Charming scene of Prince Genji watching a young princess enjoying a large lacquer box piled with toys. The girl smiles happily as she reaches for a small bird in the hand of the beauty kneeling beside her. The box holds a ball, a fish pull toy, a battledore, and a drum with an image of a rabbit on it along with many other toys. At upper left, another woman carries in an object covered with a red cloth. At upper right, blossoming cherry trees decorate a folding screen, and blue curtains edged with yellow mountain roses hang along the back of the room. Wonderful detail in the expressive figures and the household furnishings.
