Bando Shuka I as the Geisha Koito, 1856

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Bando Shuka I as the geisha Koito, grinning happily as she looks over her shoulder while hanging a robe over a bamboo pole hanging from the ceiling. Her blue kimono features a bold pattern of blossoms in darker blue with a red tie-dyed collar, tied with a narrow red sash. Tatami mats cover the floor, adding an interesting graphic pattern. An attractive design.
