Comments - Interesting depiction of the Meiji Emperor and Empress leaving the Imperial Palace by the Nijubashi or Niju Bridge. They ride in an elegant carriage topped with a phoenix figurine, the Emperor wearing a military uniform and his wife dressed in the latest European fashions. Soldiers on horseback accompany the royal couple. A handsome design.
