Hana no en (Festival of Cherry Blossoms), Chapter 8 - Lovely scene from the kabuki play "Imoseyama onna teikin" of Iwai Kumesaburo III as the young beauty Hinadori. She falls in love with the samurai Koganosuke who lives on an estate across the river, the couple tragically unaware that their families are bitter rivals. Here, the beauty looks up with a smile, shyly holding her sleeve to her chin. She wears an elegant kimono patterned with cherry blossoms, her hair arranged with clusters of tiny flowers and ribbons. An attendant kneels beside her, gesturing with her finger. A large blue and white ceramic vase at right holds flowering cherry branches. An attractive design with soft bokashi shading on the background.
