Series; Ukiyo-e Comparisons of the Cloudy Chapters of Genji, 1845 - 1846

Matsukaze, Chapter 18 - Great kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danjuro VII as the infamous pirate Kezori Kuemon, grimacing angrily as he looks over his shoulder at the full moon. He wears exotic robes trimmed with a ruffled collar and carries a huge axe emblazoned with flames. Bamboo trunks tied with ropes rest on the ground at right, with a lantern hanging overhead trimmed with beads and tassels. Beautifully detailed.
