Procession in Takanawa, 1860

Comments - Lovely image of beauties traveling along the coast at Takanawa in the form of a daimyo's procession. In the center, a princess rides in an elegant enclosed palanquin, with an attendant holding an umbrella above her and bearers dressed in matching blue and white kimono. Two women carrying small chests or trunks over their shoulders lead the way, followed by beauties with standards protectively wrapped in cloth. Mountains can be seen on the horizon at left, and ships dot the ocean at right. A lovely design, nicely detailed with touches of burnishing.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 3/4"

Condition - Good detail. A few small wormholes, repaired.
