Dolls

Series; Eight Favorite Things in the Modern World

Dolls - Charming portrait of a beauty with a geisha doll from Eisen's series depicting favorite things. She smiles happily as she examines the toy, holding it carefully. Her blue-gray kimono features a maple leaf pattern in green and light blue with a black collar, worn over a red under robe with a cherry blossom print collar, tied with a striped obi. A small inset at upper left shows a seated court beauty doll in a wooden case, used for display during the annual Doll Festival. An attractive design, nicely detailed. Only the second time we've seen this subject.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)
