Comments - Dramatic kabuki portrait of Asao Yoroku II as Sakeya (sake shop) Kyushichi raising a sword above his head as he prepares to attack. His kimono is tucked up at the waist for easier movement, and he has a dotted cloth wrapped about his head against the cool night air. The edge of a rustic hut can be seen among the foliage at left. An expressive figure, nicely detailed with soft shading on the night sky. Includes embossing on the white loincloth.
