Konoteru of the Tamaya, circa 1830

Comments - Terrific portrait of the courtesan Konoteru of the Tamaya on an evening stroll beneath a blossoming cherry tree. She pauses with her back turned to the viewer to showcase her striking black kimono decorated with a fierce dragon, red flames, and swirling clouds. A large lantern rests on the ground behind her, and pine branches frame the title cartouche at upper left. A great Edo era beauty design.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 14" x 10"

Condition - Good detail. A few wormholes, repaired. Slight rubbing at edges, light creasing throughout.
