Scene from Ashiya Doman Ouchi Kagami, 1850

Comments - Interesting portrait of Ichikawa Kodanji IV as a servant in the play "Ashiya Doman Ouchi Kagami" at the Nakamura Theater. He looks up with a slightly alarmed expression as he kneels on the ground, holding his master's swords upright. He wears a boldly patterned black and white kimono over a fringed apron. A striped cloth panel is hung from the blossoming cherry tree at right to provide privacy for picnickers. A nicely detailed design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 7/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - Nice detail. Backed with paper. A couple wormholes, repaired.
