Scene from Genke Hachidai Megumi no tsuwa mono, 1847

Comments - Interesting scene from the kabuki play "Genke Hachidai Megumi no tsuwa mono" at the Ichimura Theater of Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as as the commoner Ebizako no Ju and Bando Shuka I as Mikazuki Osen. The beauty slide open a door at right, revealing a mirror atop a black lacquer makeup chest inside. She grins slyly over her shoulder at Ju, who holds a slender pipe in his outstretched hand. He wears a blue coat over a striped kimono that is tucked up at the back, and black leggings. Nice expressive figures.

Image Size - 14" x 19 3/8"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Two separate panels. Horizontal folds. Slight separation at ends of vertical centerfolds, thinning at edges, a couple holes, repaired. Creasing, a few stains. Please see photos for details.
