Comments - Interesting scene from the kabuki play "Kurikaeshi Mimasu no Tamamono" at the Morita Theater of Ichikawa Ichizo III as Toriyama Akisaku, relaxing on the floor with his chin propped on his hands, his feet kicking. He looks up with an angry frown, his hair arranged in two small loops atop his head with the longer hair pulled back into a thick ponytail. An alcove behind him holds a tray with offerings on it in front of a hanging scroll, while a shelf at right has a vase of blossoming cherry branches. A circular inset depicts a scowling man looking over his shoulder. A nicely detailed interior setting.
