Comments - Handsome scene of Mitsuuji, the Country or Rustic Genji, enjoying a winter evening with a few beauties. He sits on a cushion beside a brazier, smiling happily and holding a tiny cup of sake. His black outer kimono features a pheasant and pine branches. A tobacco set, bottle of sake, and trays of food are spread out on the floor before him. The seated beauty at left holds a shamisen, ready to provide music for the young nobleman. Outside the verandah snow falls quietly over the houses and trees lining the river. A lovely design with wonderful detail in the household furnishings.
