The Courtesans Hinazuru and Chozan of the Choji House - Fantastic scene of two elegant courtesans in their private quarters of the Choji House. At right, Hinazuru shows off one of her fashionable New Year kimono. Chozan watches while leaning against a low writing table covered with books and brushes, blank poem slips ready for her to write New Year greetings. The verses above reproduce the women's handwriting. Excellent detail in the luxurious fabrics and household accessories, beautifully colored.
