Threatening a Beauty

Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene of a commoner threatening a beauty in a garden, raising his sword above his head as he frowns at her angrily. She scrambles backwards on the ground, turning her head away as she throws one hand out in self-defense. At left, a man climbs through the foliage, grimacing as he watches the confrontation. He wears a plaid kimono over a red under robe, the back tucked up for easier movement, a white cloth wrapped about his head. A stone lantern and pine tree frame the scene at right, with a stream bordered by wooden pilings beyond. Nice expressive figure in an attractive landscape setting, detailed with soft shading on the night sky.
