Comments - Interesting kabuki diptych featuring Ichimura Kakitsu in five roles. At lower right, he plays the young samurai Yomiuri, who is actually Soga no Goro in disguises. He looks up with an angry frown at the beauty Hototogisu, who sneers back at him. At upper right, a commoner looks over his shoulder with a worried expression, a white cloth bordered with flowers draped over his head. His kimono features bamboo and stripes. At lower left, another man holds a mirror from a cord caught between his teeth as he grips an umbrella, his kimono patterned with pinks. Nice expressive figures.
