Scene from Nezumi Komon Haru no Shingata, 1857

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene from the play "Nezumi Komon Haru no Shingata" at the Ichimura Theater. Here, a young packhorse driver Ikedo Sankichi sits at left, next to the widow Otaka, who leans forward with an eager smile holding a message. At right, the geisha Omot clasps her hands together as she looks up, while beside her Katanaya Shinsuke glares at the widow over his shoulder, a cloth in his hand. From left, the actors are Onoe Kikugoro IV, Ichimura Uzaemon XIII, Nakamura Kamenojo I, and Bando Hikosaburo V. Nice expressive figures.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 19 1/2"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with paper. Slight rubbing and a couple creases at edges, a few marks. Please see photos for details.
