Series; Kyozo's Birds and Flowers Paintings Book (Kyozo kacho gashu)
Endo Kyozo - A graduate of the painting section of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, Endo Kyozo practiced the traditional Japanese painting style known as "yamato-e," which dates back centuries to the Heian era. Kyoto artist Matsuoka Eikyu is credited with reviving and modernizing the Yamato style in the 1920s and 1930s, and Endo Kyozo was active in that movement, helping to found the Shinko Yamato-e Kai to promote the style. These lovely, softly colored woodblocks capture Kyozo's painterly style using simplified forms and shapes that give them a modern look. A few subjects include silver or gold metallic pigment. These beautiful designs are a great choice for a shin-hanga collector.
