Prince Genji Seeking Shelter under a Tree

Series; Twelve Months of Genji

Prince Genji Seeking Shelter under a Tree - Handsome woodblock of a group of assorted characters taking shelter under a tree during a sudden shower. At left, a porter sits on a small trunk as he looks up over his shoulder at the raindrops slanting across the stormy sky. A small child sleeps on his father's back and a koi vender kneels beside his wooden bucket full of fish, a few swimming inside glass bowls dangling from the handle. Two beauties share an umbrella in the center, while an attendant shields Prince Genji with an umbrella at right, the nobleman fanning himself. The two men look up at the rain with delight, a young sword bearer crouching beside them. An intriguing subject with attractive detail and soft shading on the night sky.
