Chrysanthemum Festival, circa 1840s - Charming portrait of a beauty from a series pairing women with the five festivals. Here, a beauty looks over her shoulder with a smile as she holds a long sheet of paper between her hands. Her gray kimono is bordered with seashells, worn over a red under robe and tied with a geometric and flower patterned obi. A circular inset at upper right shows a kettle next to a spray of chrysanthemums. The first time we've seen this attractive Kuniyoshi design.
