Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Scene from Kosode Soga Azami no Ironui, 1859

Comments - Handsome portrait of Onoe Kikugoro IV as the wife Okiji in the play "Kosode Soga Azami no Ironui" at the Nakamura Theater. She leans forward with a dismayed expression as she looks out the doorway of a shabby house, throwing one hand out at her side. She wears an intricately patterned blue and gray kimono trimmed with violet over a red under robe, tied with a violet print kimono. A hat and straw raincoat hang on the wall behind her, which is cracked with missing plaster. An expressive figure in a nicely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Backed with paper. A couple creases at edges. Please see photos for details.
