Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Scene from Hananitori sakigake Soga, 1832

Comments - Handsome portrait of Mimasu Gennosuke I as do Akebono Genpachi in the play "Hananitori sakigake Soga" at the Nakamura Theater. He sits on a bench in front of a stone embankment with steps at left, frowning worriedly as he looks to the side, holding the ends of a white cloth draped over his shoulder. He wears a blue kimono bordered with a black geometric print over a red under robe, tied with a red obi featuring crane motifs, and geta clogs. An attractive early Kunisada design, nicely composed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 9 3/4" + left margin as shown

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Thinning at corners, repaired. A few creases. Please see photos for details.
