Umekichi of the Aoyagiro, 1867

Comments - Charming portrait of the beauty Umekichi of the Aoyagiro out for a stroll, smiling happily as she lifts the edge of her robe. Her kimono is shaded from blue to tan, bordered with a pattern of seals. A large scallop-shaped inset behind her features a view of a teahouse overlooking the water, with steps leading to a dock and a willow tree rising above the fenced courtyard. The title cartouche takes the form of two folding fans. An attractive design with fine bokashi shading.
