Courtesan in a Phoenix Obi

Comments - Handsome kakemono or vertical diptych of a courtesan wearing a green kimono decorated with blossoming plum branches in bold calligraphic line work over a red tie-dyed robe, her obi featuring circular phoenix motifs amidst swirling clouds. She looks down as she walks along on tall black lacquer clogs, her hair pulled back into a smooth bun adorned with combs and many hairpins. Wonderful detail in the elegant fabric patterns.
